Knit Picky

I am so enjoying learning how to knit. I have wanted to pick it up for some time now and have joyfully discovered what I thought to be true, which is that I am taking to it quite quickly. It's kind of funny though as I don't know anyone in my daily life who knits other than my mother-in-law who is in another state, so I learn from YouTube videos. But visual learning is the only way to understand a visual activity, at least for me. Reading from a book is much more difficult and even just looking at pictures doesn't do the trick. But anyway, it's really fun. AND... I am a certified vegan knitter! OK, well maybe not certified, but I am a dedicated vegan knitter... no wool, silk, or any other animal-derived yarns. Yay!

Christmas Linkage!!

OK. So this year I am working hard and saving money for our Big Move. So in lieu of said saving, Christmas this year is going to be more modest than it has been in years past. My husband insists on getting me something, so I told him I'll take on of these and one of these. I will be quite happy with those. Not to mention, my dear, sweet mother-in-law is getting me on of these. I am quite the lucky girl. I know exactly what I am going to get/do for each of our girls, and am still undecided on what to get DH. In fact, he is quite possibly the hardest person to shop for in the history of hardest people to shop for. This is mainly because he doesn't "need anything". Which, in terms of the reality of who he is, it's true. I wanted to get him one of these, but considering the move, I'll wait 'til we're settled into our new abode. Books are always something he'll enjoy, but which book is the real question at hand here. Perhaps a gift certificate? But then he'll just view it as money sitting there that could be used for more practical things. Oy vey, is he hard to shop for! Collections? His are full. Hobbies? None to speak of at the moment.

Sigh. I'll figure it out. In the meantime, I am just workin' my little tail off trying to save up for both Christmas and the move. Not to mention, come January, my hours will be cut down because the Holiday Shopping Rush will have ended. No significant complaints, though. All is indeed well.

Sew You Think You Can Sew?

I LOVE this sewing room!!! I can't emphasize that enough. Envy. Total envy. But actually what's even cooler is designing your own. I don't have that kind of space, but I know one day I will - and I am taking notes from the above. Gorgeous. Especially that chair! And the green dresser, and the Mac computer! Yowza!

Two (DoughDough) Birds With One Stone

Image via the Kitchen DoughDough site

The ever-lovely Kitchen DoughDough has a dream. A big and lovely and worthy dream - and I want to help!! Not to mention, by my mentioning KDD's dream, I could also be the lucky, lucky recipient of her fabulous giveaway!

I've already written to Ellen (yes, THE Ellen!) to tell her about KDD's dream and about how much I too believe in flowing one's dreams. If you want to help give someone the chance to realize a dream, you too can write to Ellen, or even participate in the other ways KDD has outlined. I nominated the Mother's Day Cupcakes because I love to sew, but I was really torn between these and these - both flodded me with childhood memories! :)

Good luck, Kitchen DoughDough!! I hope your dream comes true!!!

Now and Zen

Last but not least for today, is the alarm clock I have wanted to get for a good ten years now: the Now and Zen alarm clock. This is the most awesome and "me" clock I have yet to come across, aside from Grandfather clocks, of course. Its ring is actually the the strike of a small internal gong, tuned to the note of E which is meant to be a less relaxing tone and thus will wake you up. It gongs something like once every couple minutes, and then sooner as time goes on if it's not turned off. It's on the list!

For My Lounging Habit...

Suits from MyBabyJo.com

I could use me one of these beauts (uh, talking about the suits, of course ;) ).

Sew What?

Brother sewing machine, LX3125

This little cutie is my next "big purchase" (sometime soon, maybe).

Singer sewing machine, circa 1890

Now, what I really want is one of these. *sigh*

Bicycle! Bicycle!

See that beaut over there in the sidebar? You know, the fantastical bicycle? Well, I'm a tryin' to win it. Now that I'll be in university come fall, I could really use an awesome and stylish utility bike to transport me and my school supplies to and fro on the gargantuan campus. If you wanna help a girl out, go ahead and click on the bugger and give 'em some traffic from my site.

She'd make me so very happy! I haven't had a bike this cool since I had my pink and purple huffy with a bell and tassels when I was a little girl. Sweet!

(25 extra points for anyone who guesses the song the title of this post came from. Hint: it's a rock-n-roll song.)
